Feedback 2012

I've done this a few years and can't stop now.  smile

Cons:

  • Torrential rain - mind you, despite giving ourselves permission to not walk the whole thing, we stuck with it and had fun. So it wasn't that bad after all.
  • Mud - had just about dried out when we hit camp, only to get the shoes wet all over again. Next year's walk at Roger's stadium is sounding really appealling.
  • Completion t-shirts - the material and very loud pattern really doesn't appeal to me. I much preferred the old soft long sleeved shirts we got. That said, it's the Thursday after the walk and I saw two people out and about with their shirts on today. (I think the blue ones look better than the pink for being out and about).
  • Mileage markets - the above cons are a bit tongue in cheek. The one thing I think could be improved upon are the accuracy of the mileage markers. In particular, the marker at the lunch stop on Sunday said we had about 12.8 or so left. Not sure why we all believed that since based on the one before we should have been at around 17... I guess we were all happy to believe one with less to go must be the right marker. It was very disappointing to walk over an hour (to the Shoppers stop) and still be at around 10K to go. Plus, we'd told family members what time to be there based on the lunch expectations. Not the end of the world but something that happens most years and can be a bit demoralizing.

The pros:

  • It really was a great event this year.
  • Bravo for putting us inside Saturday morning for registration and Saturday lunch. Much appreciated.
  • Bravo for the organization around registration Saturday morning - after last year's delays this too was much appreciated.
  • Bravo for the routes... this was my 9th walk in Toronto and I honestly think it was the best one. I think there was some luck too - the 2nd day in the Humber Valley was beautiful but probably wouldn't have been as nice in the pouring rain.
  • Good food, great volunteers, great community spirit, etc.
  • It really was a great even this year. Congrats to everyone who organized it.

Julie
