Late start

I don't know about everyone else but I would like to go back to the early start time. To me it seemed most people where there early and we had to wait to get started. I know I would rather get started early and try to finish at a time where I can have some time to do things at camp rest, get a massage and shower without rushing since I was tired when crossed the finish line.

I'm with you Terry.

And I was confused on Saturday morning as opening ceremony didn't even start until close to 8:30.

Didn't we usually leave at 8??

I believe part of the problem is people needing to hand in monies on the Saturday morning. If there could be some way to deal with this , then we could start early.

My second year walking this year and I too found it a very late start.  To add to the confusion we had to pick up a teammate's ID b/c they have still not arrived at the house.  The line up for that was enormous!  So, I think that was part of the delay.

A lot of folks were turning in donations that likely caused many to be delayed.

The parking directions off of Lakeshore were horrific! We turned into the CNE grounds as per the directional sign, to meet a crew member, who said go see that lady up there in the security outfit and she will direct you to the underground parking. So, up we go, she turns us around and sends us out onto to Lakeshore, to the first light and says make a left - great except that entrance was impassable due to construction, so we continue we see signs and go to follow them to be told by different crew members that we need to go up and around The Princes Gates to the underground parking. We were onsite at 6:45 and did not get parked until 7:10. I am sure by the number of cars following us we were not the only ones.

But, I agree earlier is better.  Last year I thought we left at 8:00 as well Ashley.  What time did we actually get going?

I MUCH preferred the early start. The only saving grace was that it wasn't super hot in the afternoon (i.e. walking one hour in the heat).

I agree we started too late then we hit the bottleneck not long after where that also took time. Last year i am sure we started earlier and it was alot better. I also agree that it would have been nice to get to camp earlier and be able to take advantage of some things...we wanted to cross as a team so you walk with everyone...starting later well we were in later, we were tired, still had to collect our bags, eat, shower......maybe next year will be different.
