New lanyards - UGH

Has anyone got their package in the mail - it has our ID tags and the lanyard is HUGE (as in thick).

Anyone else notice this - and hate it?

haha

Sounds like the walk has lost its mystic...that is unfortunate, it is the little things that motivate us and keep our spirits up...

I haven't gotten mine yet. I know that I didn't like last years Credential as much as the previous years. From the sounds of it, I won't be a fan of this years either! lol
I can't stand those lanyards around my neck (I don't even wear one at work, I have a clip for my card instead) so it's going to be a pain if it's thicker this year!

It's basically double the size in thickness, Noreen.

You'll love it :P

(I also don't wear my work access pass around my neck, I carry it or clip it to my pants).

So why not wear an old one? I have kept all of mine.

I rec'd mine and thought the same thing, the lanyard is thick and the ID part is big and plain. I am going to use mine from 2 years ago. I can put my cell phone in it - stops it from swinging around my neck. It would be great if they get this feedback and consider a different "method" for next year.

Got my ID/lanyard in the mail today. I'm a survivor. My lanyard is blue. Called the office and they said, "oh, well, on the morning of the walk, just switch it at the reregistration table.". Yep, like I don't already have enough to do the morning of the walk...sheesh.

I have to say, at least the laminated credentials are a step up from the plastic sleeve last year. It seems like a pretty decent middle ground from the all plastic ones that were really nice and probably expensive.

The lanyard is huuuuge but it's probably not going to bug me.

Lol, thanks for the suggestion Julie....I don't know why I didn't think of just grabbing a lanyard from a previous year.... ha ha
"Fire Chicks", that really sucks that you didn't get the pink lanyard, and now have to try to get one on Saturday! Hopefully you can just reach and arm in there and grab one quick!!

thanks Noreen. When I called the office, I was told all survivors get purple lanyards this year. I would use an old one, but apparently they're different this year. Ah, well.

Maybe because I'm a survivor of other womens' cancers? I'm not sure.

No package for me... we have to wait until the all crew meeting on Friday September 10th before we get our packets... just a week and a half away now... hard to believe!

I think I might like the idea of thicker and heavier though... hopefully that will keep it from flapping about in the breeze like last year's plastic sleeve.

Love the idea that there will be purple as well as pink and blue lanyards this year smile

I received my package last week. I agree - the lanyard is rather big. Being a breast cancer survivor, mine is kind of a mauvy pink - not a bright pink as in the past.

I think it should be lavender -- general cancer

I agree the lanyards are a bit of a pain in the neck LOL - try wearingt it and a seperate one for the whistle while riding the motorcycle - i get a rash every year from them - thanks for the heads up tho will take an old one with me in case the one we get is too big - once i leave for the crew meeting on friday afternoon i dont get home again till late sunday nite so knowing to take one will save me some aggrivation for sure

i do like that the lanyards show us who the survivors are tho - makes us remember why we are doing this :)

The lanyards for survivors in each city this year have been pink as always. Not sure why someone from the office said it should be purple? i have had survivors on my teams across Canada and regardless of the cancer they battled they were all pink.

The size of the credentials is about the same as previous years other than last year and everybody hated the paper / plastic sleeve so obviously they reverted back. Its a nicer memento as it doesn't get damaged like the paper did.

As mentioned, swap out the lanyard for one from previous years, its an easy solution!

See you all in 8 sleeps!!!

Purple is the pink ribbon colour for survivors. See June of my Butterfly of Hope calendar. I think Randy also has purple ribbon items with "survivor" on them.
