Fundraising speech a little more intimate....

I am having a fundraiser, and I normally give a short speech as to why I am walking. This year I am asking you...why are you walking? Have you had breast cancer; if so what was the first things that went through your head. Can you please help me. Anything you want to say I will incorporate into my speech. Is it your sister, sister-in-law, mother or daughter. The more inspiring I make the speech, the more people will tend to spend their money.

Thanks, Lori  smile

Hi there:
the reason I particpate in this event every year (this will be my 5th) is because I have seen the progress and advancements made because of the money raised.
When I first started our odds were 1 in 3 of being effected by breast cancer, I believe those odds are now 1 in 8. The survivor factor for anyone diagnosed used to be 5 years, Now it is most likely that you could live out an entire lifetime, if you are diagnosed early and get proper treatment.
I am move encouraged every year, and honestly believe that if those of us who can, do, one day no one will have to!
My first year with the WEBC the motto was "we will eliminate Breast cancer"
now the motto is "we will eliminate all women's cancer IN OUR LIFE TIME"

I honestly think it will happen.
I particpate in this event every year because I can, I see the difference it is making, and if one day I, or anyone I know has to fight the battle, I am very confident that we will survive!
