I have been neglecting the message boards but wanted to say I'm starting my fundraising shortly and wanted to wish everyone well! My team-mate and I are hosting a pub night in early April and so stay tuned for more details on that!
The weather has been GREAT so I encourage everyone to get out there and start your training now - it's always better to be safe than sorry (haha).
Hope everyone is having great success with their fundraising - it looks like we have to become more creative as tag days aren't as easy to get.
Ashley - tell us more about your Pub Night. What do you do? We have a local pub here that is very supportive and I'm sure they would be amenable to a fundraising night if I can present them with a good plan.
For the pub night, I would just suggest approaching your local pub and telling them you'd like to host a pub night at their bar.
Then ask what they'd be able to do to support you. (For the most part, I am sure most pubs have done something like this before and probably have their own 'rules' set up).
I know Boston Pizza give 5-15% off every sale to you during the time of your event. And sometimes I've heard the wait staff giving up their tips too.
Sometimes you can get pubs to create a signature drink and either 100% of the sales goes towards your event, or 50% of it.
It all depends on the pub/restaurant you approach.
But go in prepared to ask for donations from them, sales money etc. because the worst they'll say is no.
:)
I believe someone also posted a conversation they had with someone from the Office in regards to a pub night somewhere in this discussion board...so you might want to skim through to see if you can find it.
I am also hosting a raffle draw (prizes were donated) and a live auction for a couple of items.
You could also consider doing a 50/50 draw (and hope that the winners donates the money back to you). :D
