That the company who organizes this event for the PMH is based out of California, charges an absurd amount to do so, and will not disclose the actual figures going to PMH out of the funds raised.
Can some one point me in the direction of some documentation to prove otherwise?
The company that organizes the events is called Cause Force and they have done so for a number of years. Be careful of rumours....I would have a hard time believing that PMH would hold this event year after year if they did not benefit greatly from it.
Events like this take A LOT to organize and run - and that costs $$$. Events do not get to be this size without that side effect.

Hi everyone - I work at The Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation (PMHF) on The Weekend. PMHF is proud of its long term association with our event marketing fundraising firm, CauseForce, whose head office is based in California. With their support, and of course that of our walker community and their donors, important and significant funds have been raised for cancer research, care and survivorship programs at The Princess Margaret. We have a small staff here at PMHF overseeing our large mega-events, and without expert support from outsource service providers, we would not be able to stage such large-scale events. CauseForce is the pre-eminent event marketing company in executing fundraising events in North America -- they specialize in this. While their head office is US-based, they in fact employ more people in their Canadian offices and use largely Canadian suppliers to execute our events. Mega-events like WEWC involve substantial costs not covered by sponsorships, including meals, security, rentals, toilets, overnight camps, permits, etc., as well as advertising in order to recruit the large number of participants we have every year. PMHF and CauseForce take every measure to keep costs to a minimum and seek sponsorships and in-kind donations to cover as many of these expenses as possible, but there are still many costs incurred to a run an event of this size and duration. All budgets are carefully reviewed and approved by The Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation, and are in line with other service providers of this kind. The gross and net proceeds of the event, as well as event expenses, are outlined in the notes section of our audited financial statements in our annual report, which can be accessed online at http://www.pmhf.ca/onlineReport/2009/.
