I would if you were closer. I live in Etobicoke in the west end of Toronto.

Hi, Karen. My name is Kathy. I have a team walking from Timmins as well. We also have a pub night in the planning stages (ours hopefully will be at the Grandview in Schumacher). I'll introduce myself on Saturday. I will be coming with a couple of teammates as well as a few other friends to support you!! Good luck.....

This is my first time doing this walk and Im very interested in doing something like this. I was wondering how you can pitch something like this to bar owners?

sorry it took so long to answer but have been very busy with other events coming up. To approach a pub owner you do what you would do with anyone else; make sure that you have some ideas and questions written down; if they would be willing to let you have it there, can you sell tickets, what they may think is a reasonable price (always have a cost in your head) capacity of place, we asked if we could make jello shooters and sell pink shooters as well. The bar owners have had some type of fundraisers before you and they will know what to tell you. It is for a good cause and let them know that. They would not be losing any business as they will still be selling other types of drinks. You can ask about having a door prize, raffles etc. Some places do not allow 50/50 draws because that is a separate license but that you can also ask. Personal touches such as decorations; we did neices, children and grandchildren pictures and put them on the wall with our names, relationship to us and a caption...my neices little girl was the "find the cure before i grow boobs" caption. You will see as well that the pub/bar owners may have some ideas for you. Make sure to bring in your letter of participation and i had a picture of all of us so with our team name. Hope this helps!
