This is my first year and I am walking with my oldest daughter. We are wondering how much room there is in the tent. Is there room for one of those double/queen sized blowup beds? Or should we pick up a couple of small air mattresses?
I am tenting with my sister in law and we were wondering the same thing we have a queen size matress we called and whoever she spoke to said the queen size will fit but it is tight( the person she spoke to uses a queen size every year) I think the queen would be easier then the smaller ones so thats what we are doing
The queen airbed leaves about 2 feet to one side and is pressed flat against the side on the other 3 sides. Basically enough space to leave your bags and shoes, it's pretty much perfect.
Hmmm is there access to hydro anywhere at camp? If so I can bring my queen and blow it up then put it in the tent. If not? I'm squeezing two singles and a foot pump.
Actually, I find that two twin size would be much better than 1 queen. Keep in mind that if the queen air matress is right up against 3 sides and you have to put your gear right up again the other side, that the tent gets quite wet inside, and that by morning, just touching the walls of the tent, they are soaked. You normally don't want to put anything up against the sides. I've camped 3 times. I have a small twin (maybe single) self inflating air pad (it's just enough to cusion the ground but not bulky. I've used that every year, and my tentmate has always used nothing (different tent mate each year). We usually put a bit of our gear in the middle between us, and the gear that doesn't matter if it gets wet, on the sides of the tent.

2011 will be my sixth year walking, but it will be Ottawa this year.
I believe the tent is 7 x 7 so it's big enough for two but cosy. There's not a lot of head room. I agree you would be better to two smaller mats. The bags in the middle will be drier and are easier to get at if you need something. Donna
