3 of our team members work together. Our co-workers & management (50 people total) are very supportive of our cause. Someone sugested we have a penny drive. One of our team members brought a large decorative milk bottle & placed it in the cafeteria. The next day it was half full and the following day it was full. There were pennies, loonies, toonies, rolled pennies, etc. The company decided to do a draw so people could guess the value. ($101.11). The closest guess won a tote bag with the company logo on it. As soon as the jar was emptied it started to fill up again. There was another guessing contest with more company logo prizes awarded. One co-worker's daughter collected at her school, people collected from their families, etc. In 10 days we raised over $500 !! One of our co-workers who was recently diagnosed with breast cancer put the word out to her family & she showed up one day with $300 in pennies. We're still going. Every time I pass by that jar I smile. It's not difficult at all to ask people for pennies, and they sure do add up quickly.
We also have a bake sale at work on the last Friday of every month, which generates $40-$60 each time.
Our latest effort is a raffle where the prize is a day off with pay. Who doesn't want to win one of those?
