Training walks - Toronto

hi everyone,

I've re-posted our training walks for the month of March.  We'll continue these training walks until the event.  Each month, we'll increase the distance, so that you're ready for the event.  It's never too early to start training and the more you do, the more you will enjoy the event.  Hope you will join us!!!

Harold

I'd like to take part in some training walks in Toronto. I live in the highpark/junction area. Would love to be informed on walk dates and times!

hi Sandra,

The best thing to do is to check The Weekend website under Training Walks.  As the weather gets nicer, you will see more & more training walks posted.

Even though the weather hasn't been great, we've been getting out 10 - 12 walkers.

Hi Harold,

I wouldn't mind taking part in one of these training walks, but I don't drive and the subway system does not start running on Sundays until 9:00. Is there another way to get there? I would be coming from Eglinton Ave. W. near Bathurst. Thank you.

Hi Rachel,

Heather and I are going to meet Sunday morning on the northeast corner of Bloor and Yonge at 9:30. Heather will be wearing a hockey jersey, is 5'9" with red hair. I will be the shorter one next to her with purple glasses unless you beat me there. Hope to see you then.

Have a great day.

Lucina

hi Rachel & Lucina,

This is great!!!  I'm glad you found each other.  Just a thought...if you plan to train on a regular basis, you might want to have your walks posted at the website, so others can join you?

Feel free to write me at denov@rogers.com, if you have any questions regarding training.  This will mark my 7th year as a training walk leader and I also train walkers for other events (marathon type).

regards....Harold

Hi Harold, thank you. We will be a training team of 3 on Sunday. I will post on the training walks also.

Way to go on year 7. This is my first hope I make it through first time around.

I have no doubt that you will do well!

I use this website to measure distances for my walks.....

The best way to train for this event is to walk!  No speed training is required, but hills go a long way to building up stamina & endurance.
