Someone suggested them as a handout at the Walk....with WEBC on the back. I thought that was a GREAT idea. Much better than handing out mylar blankets in the event of rain - and great advertising for the cause.
Hopefully whoever got them will come onto the message board sooner or later and let us know where they found them.
Don't get hung up on rain ponchos. It will NEVER rain again on the Weekend! This was my sixth walk, and we have never had more than a few sprinkles before. I think we had all the rain for the next six years this time. Actually one year one of the sponsors handed out rain ponchos (not pink) and we didn't need them, so they didn't get value for their money. Wouldn't we have felt good about a sponsor who did that this time - it's the luck of the draw!
I was thinking the same thing, Sheila...we've never had anything more than the little bit of drizzle we had on Saturday morning...even when we walked in Vancouver.
I wasn't going to admit this, but you might get a chuckle out of it. Yes, I do have three or four ponchos - and have ALWAYS carried one or two of them in my backpack.
This year, in my infinite wisdom (it was not supposed to rain on Sunday), I cleaned out my backpack on Sunday morning to make it lighter and threw my ponchos in my duffle bag.
Now does that make a lot of sense? That poncho weighed so much it would make that much difference? DUH!!! Needless to say I kicked myself a few times for that decision. Must have been a Seniors moment.
Glad to know I am not the only one! I had two ponchos in my pack on Saturday, wore one and gave the other away. It never occurred to me that it could rain both days! Lucky for us, some team mates from previous years visited on Sunday and brought ponchos. The rain didn't deter them, they are joining us again next year!
LOL!! I am soo glad I was not the only one. I had this huge poncho (couldn't find the small ones this year) in my fanny all day Saturday.... then half way through Sunday, I threw it out because my back started to hurt... then it POURED! I thought I caused the rain because I threw out the poncho HAHA
I had two rain ponchos and wore one on Saturday. However it quickly ripped and in the end I threw it out.
When packing up at camp the next day, I though it was not supposed to rain, so I packed my second one in my bags.....and then the heavens opened up!!!!
Boy, did I look a sight by the time we saw the really cute firefighters...but we took pics anyway!!
I think we are starting a new club! I had my poncho in my daypack on Saturday but Sunday morning as I was getting my stuff ready, I saw the clear skies and took it out of my pack! It did help me walk faster, not having a poncho to wear, though. lmao!
After a bit of searching, (after my husband bought big ponchos like the one that Ashley had to carry!) I found the smaller ones. After it finished raining on Saturday I was too worried it might start again, so I wrapped it around my waist pack and carried it all the way to camp. On Sunday I was soooo tempted not to pack the second one, since I used a smaller waist pack this year. But I did pack it and boy am I glad!!! Although, my parents ride around in their jeep during most of the walk, and I had an extra poncho in their car just in case. :) I was planning on giving it away, but by that time, I didn't see anyone without a poncho....
And Julie, I recall that's it's rained for the past 3 years that I've done the walk. I'm thinking that I'm bad luck since I heard it didn't really rain in year before that. Last year, 2007, I remember it was raining on Sunday morning, because I was trying to get packed and eat breakfast with my poncho on. However at least it stopped before lunch! That was crazy this year trying to eat lunch under a rain poncho! I don't think it rained too much last year, but enough to friz and curl my hair! :) (my hair was already frizzy and curly before I got out of the car on Saturday this year. The year before, 2006, it rained on the Saturday and I remember it coming down pretty hard for a bit too, but it didn't last as long as this year either.
I always try to find a clear poncho, since I get all dressed up, and want to have my outfit showing. :)
Let's hope next year will be rain free the whole weekend!!!! This year got to be a bit much!!

2011 will be my sixth year walking, but it will be Ottawa this year.
I agree Noreen, last year it rained too. In all my pictures, I was wearing my poncho. It didn't pour, but it was drizzling all morning (Kinda what it did Saturday this year too).
I've learned my lesson(s): Go out early to look for the small ponchos. DON'T throw it away after Saturday! haha
I'm going to keep an eye out for clear ones, and I'll let everyone know if I can find them. I have no idea where the pink ones were bought. If I happen to see them in the store I'll let everyone know. :)

Hi Everyone, I am in the midst of getting samples of a pink disposible rain poncho with pink ribbons on it. Hopefully I will know by next week whether I can add them onto www.thinkpinkdirect.com I don't have any info yet, just that I'm getting samples from a few of my preferred suppliers. So please stay tuneD!
My team mate bought a 2 pack of rain poncho's for us all last year. There was one clear and one pink in the package, They came from A Buck or Two and it was the best investment for a dollar. We used one each day!! Sandra
I found some at the buck store in the plaza where I work, 1 pink one and 1 white one in a pack for $1.00. never thought to look there before, but since I saw the post on here I've kept my eyes open and it seems a lot fo the dollar stores in my area have them.
I just found some today at the No Frills store at Queen & Hwy 410- one clear and one pink for $1.00. I think people thought I was insane when I cheered when I found them. ( I know my son thinks I'm nuts....) :)
