The New Toronto Weekend to End Breast Cancer Message Boards

Thanks for being responsive to the requests to keep the message board format. I think I like this format better than the old one. I've walked for the past 2 years & am looking forward to the next one in 2009.

My first year I registered by myself, in 2008 we had a small team of 3, my goal is to have a 10 person team for 2009. Our team name is the Mama-Grams

Man Im glad to finally have the boards back. Since I started walking in 2005 I've been an avid user of these boards. Ive used them for fundraisng tips, prayers and much more...even boostin the moral of other walkers when they needed it.

I joined a team in 2005 by the name of 4 Women 4 Ever and walked the first year with my daughter. in 2006 my daughter Shawna and I formed our own 2 person team The BOOBI DOOBIE DOOS... and this year 2 good friends from Windsor joined us. This year we were part of the lunch crew "FEEL THE BURN" and in 2009 we will be back as walkers.. my daughter is taking a break to spend time with her significant other but promise they with both be all along the walk route to cheer myself and 3 other members on to the finish.
So watch for the Boobie Doobie Doos in 2009. Right now we are a 3 member team soon to be join by a 4th and we are hoping that we will have a few more shortly after that.

Hey, the new message boards look great and I like the calendar so people can post training walks and fund raising events etc. Thanks for putting them up for us Kim. smile

Just one thing though - they're not private. Anyone can view messages without logging in, so that means the public will be able to see phone numbers and addresses posted in messages.

But we've just discovered the Private Message facility so that means it'll be easier for people to send contact info!

AND we can also see who's using the boards at any given time so I bet those addicted to the boards will soon be using it to chat, eh Joseph? lol

Hi Everyone,

I will be returning for a second year in 2009. I was just hooked, but not until the aching and chills had worn off. If you had asked me at the time of the walk if I would be coming back, I'm sure my response wouldn't have been very nice. It wasn't until I walked past the Princess Margaret Hospital and saw the survivors and patients out there greeting us did it hit home. So, I think I can honestly say I will be returning again and again.

I sure am glad the message boards are back, that way I can go online during the day at work. I look forward to chatting and getting to know you all. Have a great weekend everyone, and enjoy the nice weather...(too bad we didn't have this on our walk). Talk to you later.

I'm looking forward to using the message board...I didn't know about it last year (or better, didn't realize it was available)

I am glad too that this message board has been created for us walkers. I have walked for 6 years , sometimes alone and sometimes as part of a team. this event has always been an incredible experience for me. I usually read and rarely respond, but who knows with this year. Jodi

Yay, the message boards are back!

Who would have thought we would have felt so strongly about it LOL. That being said (and as one of the people who posted angrily about them disappearing) I have to say I'm soooo happy to have the message boards back.

Thank you to the WEBC team for listening and acting. It is truly appreciated and I, for one, won't forget it.

I have participated first time in 2008 as lunch crew. Landis is my team leader Boobie Doobie Doos. I with the team will be back in 2009. I am with the team will be walking. I am creating the team mascot Scoobie Doo. We have a new team member joing us. The team is growing.

I am glad to see that the message boards are back, but I am not sure how to access them apart from the link that Ashley posted on the 2008 board. Is there a link that I have missed on the 2009 home page? I find the boards to be a great source of information and encouragement and this format seems as though it will be more user-friendly than Facebook for a large group.

Hi Sheila,

The link I posted on the 2008 facebook wall was for the 2009 facebook group. This message board, I actually do not know how to access without adding it to your favourites. I don't think the office has this link (for this message board) posted anywhere, yet.
It was just released yesterday to us, so I am sure that within time, everyone will be notified, somehow.

I am just glad we have message boards - that isn't a facebook group ! smile

On a lighter note, I am a third year (very excited) walker.
I signed up because my teammate, Jenny Scott was a participant. After I donated to her, I signed up myself. That year, my close aunt was diagnosed with breast cancer so I knew I made a good decision with registering.
I have become so much more involved because of the message boards. I am an avid user and found that they helped me with my first year experience with fundraising, and preparing for the walk. I just hope that I can help other 'newbies' along with their experience now too. biggrin

Hi Everyone,

I am so glad to have the message boards back!!!!

Thanks to everyone who really pushed to have the message board brought back....I think it's better than ever.

I will be a 2nd year walker for 2009 and I could not be more excited!!! I think my team will be even larger than last year. We had four amazing ladies on our team for the 2008 walk and we recruited a few more since the walk ended!!!!

By getting the message board back we can see what many voices can do. This is how we will beat breast cancer....with many voices, one goal!

Hello Everyone.

Glad to see the message boards up and running again. I participated with the walk for the first time this year in 2008. I was part of the lunch crew on both days. Perhaps you remember me. I was one wearing a scooby on my hat and making lots of noise at the extra table. HEHEHE! I had a blast this year and already registered to be a part of it again for 2009 as a walker. I have had family members pass away from cancer and vowed to myself that I will do whatever it takes to help find a cure. Cancer is cancer! Does not matter what form it takes or where people get it. Cancer KILLS!! SO let us all do our part and find a cure to KILL cancer back

Just wanted to say that I enjoy having the message board back as I found it very useful getting ready for my first walk. My teammate and I walked for the first time in 2008 and are looking forward to walking again in 2009 with hopefully a few more walkers added to our team.
