Blisters, already :(

Hellooooo everyone!!

We're less than a month away from the big walk in
Toronto and I already have blisters!
I was in a wedding this past weekend and the bridal party shoes killed my feet... I have two huge blisters on the side of my big toes.
One popped (thanks to someone's crazy dance moves), but the other one is still filled....

Question: Do I pop it?

I don't know how to make them heal in time for the walk --- anyone have any suggestions?

I normally don't get blisters there during the walk, but I don't want this year to be the first.

Let me know your thoughts!

Ashley

Hi Ashley, So sorry to hear of the blisters. What a pain!!! I checked the internet and found this site which seems to give great info on what to do with them. Take a look and make your decision from there. Good luck with this and hopefully, it will be healed in time. See you at the Walk. Diane

Ashley:

That's what happens when you become a 'senior'...you get blisters!!!

This is only my personal opinion, but I'd pop it.  They seem to heal faster when popped.  Certainly they stop hurting faster when popped.

Donna and Joseph, you two are too funny!!

Joseph, I actually might go skydiving at the end of the month in
Florida but I'm still waiting for my back to heal from the first time I went LOL

Thanks for the link Diane!

It is actually a water blister, and it isn't bothering me... so it's making me want to just leave it.
I was hoping it'd pop while I was sleeping or something (so I didn't have to deal with it...) but it doesn't seem to be happening.
haha

Okay thanks for the tips.

And Donna, I think you're right, it's all because I am a senior because I certainly feel like an old lady!!

Hi Ashley,

You should pop it & drain it, however DO NOT remove the loose skin.  Push the back down on to your foot.  This keeps the spot clean.

If you can go bare foot or wear sandles do so, otherwise if you must wear shoes & socks then cover the blister with a band aid.

Follow these steps & you should be good to go come September 11 biggrin

Trust me my feet attract blisters.  Doesn't matter what I wear or how long.

Take care, see you soon

Denise

Hey Denise!!!

Thanks for the advice.

I've been wearing my birkenstocks since Sunday so I'm hoping the air will help it....but I guess it's time to pop it.  That'll be my Friday night date - me and my blister.

So as long as I don't get in trouble at work, I'll be wearing my birkenstocks until walk day ;)

Also, I am glad I am not the only person whose feet attract blisters!! haha

See you all very soon!

I popped and drained it.

It's healing perfectly.

Okay....so lesson learned for everyone out there.  I got a sliver, or something, in the ball of my foot a month or so ago.  Felt it go in, but I was in a hurry, so ignored it.  Forgot about it for a bit, then it started bothering me, so I tried to fish it out, without success.  Bottom line is, as I started getting more and more into my training walks, it started hurting more and more.

Went to the doctor figuring he would pull out his scalpel and dig it out.  Not what happened.  Was sent for an xray...apparently the body builds a casing around these types of 'intruders' to protect itself against them.   He suggested I get my orthotics built up around it to take off the pressure.  Don't think I will go for that option...after 60kms that would feel like I had a rock in my shoe.

The moral of this story...if you ever get a sliver in your foot, don't ignore it!!!

I'm happy to hear that your blister is getting better Ashley. Still lots of time for it to be healed and gone!!
