I know that some of you have either walked or crewed in Ottawa (this year) or Montreal past years. A good friend of mine just announced that his wedding will be Sept 10th 2011!! Which means no Toronto walk for me next year! It'll be strange after doing it for 5 years. My Mom and I are talking about the possibility of doing either Ottawa or Montreal next year. We thought we'd see if anyone on here might be able to give us any info that might help (where it starts and finishes) or anything else. Or even if you think you might be in one of those locations next year! We might be leaning more towards Ottawa as it's a tad closer, but with it being in June, there's less time to fundraise!
Thanks! Noreen

2011 will be my sixth year walking, but it will be Ottawa this year.
Would you go and do the walk in one of the other cities Ashley? My Mom and I are still going to discuss it and decide what to do.... Since the cost can get a little high with transportation and accomodations and all of that! Not to mention trying to drive home after the walk with very sore legs and feet!

Wendy and I did the walk in Vancouver a few years ago, and it was awesome. Neither of us had visited that city before, so we looked at it as a bit of a holiday with the walk thrown in the middle. After all, what better way to see a city than to walk through it.
Very true, it's definitely a great way to see a city you haven't been to before!
And thanks for the tip about LCBO and tag days. It makes sense, but I hadn't even thought about it. Although, since Ottawa is still in Ontario, if we decide to do it there, then they might still let us do a tag day.

Just tell them you are fundraising for Breast Cancer or whatever your chosen area is...you don't need to be to specific! The money goes to a cancer research hospital in Canada so i'm pretty sure they are not that bothered!!
They may have become more lenient about it. However, when Wendy and I did the walk in Vancouver, we asked for tag days to raise funds for that event and were told point blank that they would not give us tag days for events outside of Ontario. Since we had to provide the letter confirming our participation in the event, it was obvious where in Canada it was being held. I don't believe Ottawa would pose a problem.
You're right, Ashley. We've clocked the Ontario Ride at 220km and the Quebec Ride, without the mountain and escarpment, at 280km. I think they go by how long it takes to do the Ride, not by distance. I've heard the Alberta Ride is much shorter...probably because it's much hillier (is that a word???)
