Host hotel

Has anyone found out which hotel is the host this year? Have they really changed the route? Just trying to get all my things in order. Thanks for any info

It looks to me as though the host hotel is The Sheraton Centre Hotel. If you go into the participant centre there is a shuttle that you can reserve from there to the opening ceremonies on Saturday morning. We were hoping to stay in a hotel instead of tenting on Saturday night but I think that would be a rather inconvenient hotel to go to. There is nothing posted about rates. If you go in to reserve the shuttle it says there that it is the host hotel. Hopefully more info will come out soon!

The host hotel is the Sheraton Downtown and when I called the coaches they told me the price was going to be $189 for the weekend, however when I went to inquire and called the Sheraton, it is actually $189 for each night; plus parking. A little steep for me! So we are staying at the Four Point by Sheraton Toronto Lakeshore for $116 /free parking. And only a few minutes drive to the starting point.
Now I'm trying to find a decent hotel close to Downsview Park since we won't be tenting. Any suggestions?

I'm looking at either the Days Hotel on Wilson Ave. or Travelodge North York on Norfinch. Both are about $80 and both have pool and hot tub. Has anyone stayed at either of these hotels? And both are about a $20 cab ride each way incl tip.

PS Cab ride to the Sheraton Downtown from the park is minimum $40 each way.

We have stayed at the Days Inn on Wilson for the past 2 years. It is clean, not too far, and they are very accomodating. Except....last year we had a big issue with some "long term guests" right next to us, who were, shall we say "nocturnal" people, and the swearing, screaming, etc was a bit much, and it took management almost an hour to come up and tell them to shut up. They did, however, offer us a different room the next night, and allowed us to change rooms...just what we felt like doing after walking 30k. Our teammates had a bit of noise last year, but not as bad. This year we are trying the Comfort Inn on Norfinch, which I believe is closer to Downsview, and we are hoping it will be a llittle quieter.....I think it is very close to the Travelodge. (and it is right next to the police station)

I also called the Sheraton & was quoted $189 which I was not willing to pay. Next I went to Hotwire & booked a 4 1/2 star Hotel downtown west for $109. Guess where it is? The Sheraton!   Go figure.

I did the same thing Jane....crazy isn't it.

I was hoping to take the shuttle over to exhibition place because I am at the Sheraton but it leaves at 6:15....way too early for me, I guess I can use the money I saved for a cab ride :)
