I haven't held this events yet, but I have been speaking with my friends about holding a poker night and many of them are willing to do a $50 buy in with one opportunity to buy in again. I'm planning on having about 40-50 people participating in this event. You can use donated gifts as prizes, or offer 25% of the money collected will go to the winner and the other 75% goes to the fundraising. 40x50= $2000 Winner gets $500 and you make $1500 for the charity in one night. Another suggestion i was given was to buy a biggish screen TV from a clearance place for about $300 and use that as the grand prize. Of course you can do do the money thing however you like - there are many options.
This will get more guys involved and you can leave donation forms on the side or have a computer online for people to give extra if they like.
Let me know if anyone does end up doing this and I will let you know how mine goes! It will be in the beginning of February.
I held my poker night (just with close friends, no advertising) and it went very well! I only had 9 people playing, and still managed to raise $380! Let me know if anyone would like more info on this.
I luckily had a friend who owns an Oxgford Learning Centre and we went there after hours... but if you know anyone who lives in a condo, you can always use their party room.. this way you're not cutting into costs that you can be making for the fundraising... good luck!
I am holding a poker night at my house and limiting it to 20 people. I am providing food and non alcoholic beverages which i managed to get donated. Can you give me some ideas on what you did to be so successful?
