injured walker???

On day one, not far down the Lakeshore there was a walker hurt.  She had walked into one of those damned posts that you couldn't see if you weren't looking down.
I think she was wearing a green shirt.

Anyone know what happened to her?  I keep thinking about her and hoping she was ok.  I felt so horrible for her, to be injured so near the start and what a huge disappointment it must have been.

It just occurred to me to check on the message boards to see if she's ok.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed that she was ok and not seriously injured.

Ya, we too saw her. Is she ok? Does anyone know? Good thinking to post on here.

I remember seeing her also and another walker at the very last pit stop on Day 1 who broke her ankle.  Would love to know if these ladies are okay.

Oh no! A broken ankle! Was that the lady on the County 97 team? I saw her on the sidewalk, but didn't know what had happened. I thought heatstroke (just assumed because it was so hot Sat.).

Hope those ladies are both ok. What a sucky way to spend such a fabulous weekend!

I spoke with my walking coach today and she knew of two injured walkers the one who was injured on Lakeshore at the beginning of the walk and the one that apparently broke her ankle later in the day near Downsview. She assured me both walkers were fine and both returned to the walk.

Those sneaky poles are killer!! Two years ago we watched someone walk into one and that was the end of her walk. They should put tall flags on them or something, they are dangerous in a crowd like that.
Glad to hear the two walkers are okay.

The second walker's name is Brenda she was with Team Country 95.3 RackPack She actually didn't break the ankle but has a very terrible sprain. Apparently sometimes a break is better than a sprain, she will take some time to heal. She was unable to finish the walk however her shoe crossed the finish line thanks to another team mate.

Its people like you guys that show us why we walk. The caring and concern and camaraderie is wonderful. It allows us to see that even though our society is sometimes cold and bitter there are still those out there that go the extra bit and stand above the others offering support and not just passing by unconcerned.

Its why I keep coming back year after year and city after city.

See you guys next year!
