CONQUER CANCER FUND-SHAVER EVENT

Hey everyone
Just a little note about a fundraiser my team is having in Chatham on Aug 23/09
And chad ...I know you will be in Montreal so no worries...I will be thinking about you.
The arrangements aren't written in stone yet for the 23 of Aug...but we do have a time /place  etc.
So with that said.... I do have a flyer that Im going to post . If there are any changes I will post them as well... as we get closer to the FUND-SHAVER EVENT!
As it stands right now there are 5 of us shaving our heads. we are also doing silent auctions on several items, there will be a band, 50/50 draws , a pink ribbon table and my jewellery table set up.
we've decided that because its being held @ T-Bones the kitchen will be open if anyone wants to buy a meal/food while they enjoy the fun going on and we are doing a $5 @ the door...I know its doesn't sound like much but with the economy in Chatham being so awful we thought that this might intise more folks to join the fun.

Still not sure how we are handling the head shaving (bids etc) anyone have any suggestions...feel free to offer them ...PLEASE!
We are also doing as i said a silent auction.... I will be posting pics of 2 or 3 of the items up for auction. So please watch for them.
If theres anyone out there wanting to bid ...Please feel free.... you can contact me here , @ gmail (landis.gardner@gmail.com) or phone: A & J Home IMprovements~ 1-519-354-9123

Im posting the event flyer and a pic of the one afghan up for acution. (hand-made by my aunt especially for this event.
There will be more pics to come.
I have two other beautiful afghans, a circular white crocheted table cloth (by my aunt) & a 4' BIRTHDAY CARE BEAR....that belonged to my friend Krystle. ( she willed it to me to auction off at the hair cutting event... smile.gif So I will respect her wishes and auction this item as well.
Hugs everyone and happy fund raising.
See you soon
Love
Landis

Hey all.

I am part of Landis' team and one that will be shaving my head that evening. This is going to be a fun-filled event with a live band and awesome food. Several items will be up for silent auction including afghans that were hand-made by team mates. There is going to be door prizes, raffles, 50/50. Having jewelery and items from thinkpinkdirect up for sale. Hope to see many of you out there but for some reason if unable to attend you can still bid online for the silent auctions.afghan.jpgfindthecure.jpg

Hey Landis:
good to see you and your team back again
You were asking for suggestions on head shaving..
If any of you have long hair, put into lots and lots of braids or pony tails before hand, and charge people a few bucks to cut one of the off.
or if the hair is too short for that, then charge by the handful,
I know people who have taken this approach in the past have raised alot of additional money (on top of whatever people sponsored them for prior to the event)
Especially if you have friends and family coming to your event who actually know you.
You will be amazed at how willing these people are to lend a hand in removing your hair!

I would also suggest that set up specified times for each person having their head shaved, with time in between. This give you time to announce who will be next, and when, andhow much time that gives people to sign up for a braid cutting, or make a donation to the cause.

The other option is to ask people to bid, the highest bidder gets to shave the head.
You can do this as a live auction (If you ahve sound equipment or it is a small venue) or have a silent auction, sign up sheet for each person where people can make their bids

Hope these are helpful, looking forward to seeing all your shiny heads at the W2EBC.
