New Kid in Class

Hello all....

All ready to start my 2nd year of the walk, will be alongside Noreen who frequents here quite a bit.

Looking forward to chattin' it up now and then :)

Being an artist I came up with a fundraising campaign called
Brush Out Breast Cancer...

I have a Facebook page setup--have a look and if you  have any ideas or suggestions at all I'm all ears.

Just to add to Dave's post, I know that like me, some of you prefer going on this message board as we can get on to facebook at work. :)

So just in case you aren't on facebook, or would rather read all the fun info here, below is the write up that Dave has on the facebook group. If ou are on facebook though, join the group! :)

my fundraiser called "Brush Out Breast Cancer" will enable me to reach my goal and hopefully surpass it.

I'll be asking boutiques, galleries, restaurants and whomever else that will listen, that I'll do a painting 'live' on the premises - and while I work, people can donate and watch as I bring a canvas to life.
The finished piece then may be bought by the
business, auctioned off, leased or bought by a customer with all the proceeds going to my fundraiser.

Tax receipts for donations of $20 or more are issued.

Art and raising money to conquer Breast Cancer- how can you go wrong----well, you can't!

If you have any suggestions, ideas or thoughts as to businesses that may be up for this -let me know, there's alot of work to do between now and the end of August -so any help is greatly appreciated!

The painting that Dave will be doing for these fundraisers is the one in his avatar (picture) on the message board. He already has a salon/boutique on Queen St E. that has one of the paintings, and will be painting live at the Brampton Art Fair in June (we'll post the event on here closer to the date).

Oh yeah, Boston Pizza! Great idea Ashley. I forgot about the fact that they're usually really great with helping people that are raising money. Rich (that did the rollerblading across Canada 2 years ago) to raise money for cancer had a great response from the Boston Pizza's all across Canada.

Thanks for the idea Ashley! :)

haha yes the pint is KEY to fundraising.

They are sooo great (Boston Pizza) with fundraising.. The only thing, is they usually want you to do it during the week (like Monday - Wednesday) so it's up to you to advertise the event.

Every year (except for this year) I ask them for gift certificates and they end up giving me a personal one too. :)

GOOD LUCK! :)

thanks, I'll keep you posted...

I've contacted other franchises like Coffee Culture (they usually have local artists work on display ) and figured it'd be a cinch to do a live painting there--but no word yet.

I'm also going to submit a proposal to a gallery in Toronto and have an interactive arty event there... we'll see I guess.
