teammate bails out on me-what to do??

Hi there, my teammate bailed out on me last week due to family matters. I have reserved a hall for a dinner dance but have only sold 60 tickets. Do I cancel? I have exhausted my contacts but due to the economy situation, people are not committing, they site it's too expensive ($75.00 plus they get a $25.00 tax receipt).

What would you suggest I DO???

HELP

LORI

Hi Lori,

Did you post the details of your event here and where it is located?

No, I need to sell another 50 tickets, so I may need to cancel.
Friday May 22, @ Juliius Banquet Hall (Arrow Rd & Finch Ave)
Tickets are $75.00 with a $25.00 tax receipt. Silent auction and door prizes.
The dinner I put together is absolutely amazing and I have someone singing live- a song that will touch everyone's heart.
If you are interested PLEASE send me an e-mail at lparolin@sympatico.ca

Is there any way you can book a smaller room at the banquet hall, just in case. Having fewer people than planned is better than having to cancel.

I'll call the hall on Tuesday and see what they say.

Thanks for all your input and I'll post again after I speak to the hall.

Hi Everyone,
I spoke to the hall and she said that since it's a fundraiser as long as I have 50 people they'll be happy to continue with the dinner.
I would still like to have 80 people there, so if you're interested let me know.

Thanks for all the input

Lori

Lori,
Try posting this event EVERYWHERE.
Local newspapers, facebook, here..everywhere!
Don't stop talking about this even with your friends either.

Also try and make the most of this situation... try and get donations from other companies / restaurants (gift certificates, prizes, anything) to raffle off.

Or host a 50/50 - so that any loss ticket sales, you can make up in other ways :)

Best of luck!!

I think my husband and kids are tired of hearing me talk about the walk and dinner dance. They know I'm doing the walk to make a difference in the lives of women battling with breast cancer, but I take it to the extreme---constantly talking 24/7 about the dinner.
All my friends and some family are asking their friends to join us.

I know no matter how small the event is I'll feel better about myself for not giving up.
I have sent out 60 emails and asked antoher 30 companies directly, so far i've gotten 1 donation of $25.00.

That's OK today I bought a few items (great discount) to auction off.

I am having a friend of my daughter sing live (I Run for Life by Melissa Etheridge)- ever sine I heard the song it brought tears to my eyes.

Thanks for the encouragment, I'll keep you posted as the day gets closer.

Lori

This happened to my my first year walking, except it was about 5 people who bailed on me!

Trust me, you can ABSOLUTLY still do this! I had a really hard time selling tickets to a banquet I did last year but it is possible to fill it up.

Like Ashley said, Post EVERYWHERE!!!

Try the marketplace of Facebook.
Send in press releases to local newspapers, local radio stations. You will find there are plenty of people out there who will want to help you.

Also, try selling tickets at a disounted rate if someone buys a whole table. You may loose a little bit of money, but at least you have people there!

If you need any help at all dont be shy to e-mail, like I said I had a hard time starting out last year, but my event ended up being GREAT! :)

my email is natasha.denacci@gmail.com

Hope it all goes well for you :)
