First Walk - Where do you stay if not in tent?

Hi everyone, this is my first year walking.  My sister and I were going to walk together, but she's not crazy about staying in a tent.  I saw on the site that you can choose not to - does anyone know how that works?

Welcome to the walk!!!

There was actually someone else that asked about the camping portion and there are a few posts answering back, so if you want to check out that thread to see all the answers.
It's in the General Discussion area, posted by AngelicLindsay with the subject of I've never done a walk......

As you'll see in that discussion, I do enjoy the camping right up to having to get up in the morning and get all my stuff packed up. There are the options of staying in a hotel by the camping area and cabbing it back to camp in the morning, or even just going home Saturday night and going back on Sunday morning. :)

Thank Noreen, my sister won't go if she has to stay in a tent. That might change her mind.

Hi and welcome

Years ago I said I would never sleep in a tent again ever. This will be my 4th year walking and and my 4th in a tent. I am close enough husband could pick me up or stay in hotel but can't find a good reason to pay for it when we have everything at camp. I signed up for it all walk, tent, etc and do it. After a day of walking sleep great. Staying at camp can be a fun part of the whole experience of the walk. Hope you give it a try.

Do they give us everything we need? Where do I find the answers to this question?

Hi Naamphong,

If you go to the Resources page at the main site, about half way down you'll see the "What To Bring" list.

I am a first time walker who will be coming from a distance. Since I am not familiar with the walk and camp location(s?), I have no clue where to look for any hotels in the vicinity (I'm not real' keen on camping). Can someone suggest a few hotels for me to scout out?

Thanks,

Anne

Downsview holiday inn always sees a bunch of walkers in the pool, hot tub, and bar.

I have done the walk for three years and we have always gone home the Sat night. We all stay at my place so that we still have the team experience but that way we have my husband to cater to us :)

Hi and welcome to walk
I stay at camp so can't give hotel names but we camp at Downsview park so you should be able to find some in area. I have read on msg boards that they get booked up well ahead of time though.

Good luck and have a great time
