hi...

Hi Everyone!
It's my first time on a message board... also my first time helping with this walk (in Toronto)... Looking forward to being a support for all the walkers/participants smile.gif Any insight that anyone can offer me or suggestions about the walk would be greatly appreciated.

I can tell you that us walkers LOVE the crew and volunteers. You guys make it so much easier during the route, and make it more fun for us too! :) All the work the crew does is unbelievable!

I've only walked but not crewed, so I don't know if I'd be able to answer any of your questions. I do believe that they will asign you to a certain task/area for each of the two days, but I don't know much else. Maybe someone else on here will be able to help you out a bit more or if you had any specific questions.

The biggest thing is to have fun!!!

Thank you for joining up as a crew memeber!!!! :)

Thanks so much Noreen!
Looking forward to helping out in any way we can (my husband and I are both helping as crew and we want to make it as fun as possible for all of the walkers!).

Once you know what tasks they're giving you during the walk, let us all know, so we can watch out for you and your husband!!! :)

We're going to an orientation meeting in Burlington next weekend so I'm hoping we'll have a clearer idea of what we might be doing from the meeting. I will definitely let you know what we'll be doing as soon as we know!  Thank-you again

Hi again
Glad to see that you are going to be part of the crew, I am a walker. As Noreen said have fun and yes we could not do the walk without all the help and support we get. It really takes all of us crew, volunteers and walkers to make the weekend happen.

Hi Doc ( and everyone else)

2009 is my 3rd year as a crew member and I do know that the  orientations  are very worthwhile for info - since I have only ever crewed on one team im not sure how different it is on other teams but I know that the crew have the best jobs ever!!!

The walkers are so amazing and inspiring - and I have walked 3 times but......Im addicted to being on the crew!!! I am very lucky to be part of an amazing team called the Motorcycle Safety team (if you dont see us im sure you will hear us!! LOL)

2009 will be my 6th event and Im counting the days until I can be in Toronto with everyone again!! Happy Fundraising and training to all the walkers and to all you other crew members dont forget to fundraise every penny counts and I know sometimes people switch to crew because they found the fundraising very hard but remember if you could raise 2000$ as a walker you can easily raise 500$ or more as a crew member!!

See you in September!

Thanks for your note "motorcyclemohawk".  We're looking forward to helping the walkers and being part of the encouragement for all of the participants in this event.  It's always good to know that people are inspired to come back year after year!  The information session was great, by the way -- but we're still unsure about our specfic duties as of this point (I believe that packages will be mailed out soon for this). For now, we're working with the fundraising and hope we can meet/surpass our goals!

This is my Third year as a walker but last year I did crew at the Ride to Conquer Cancer which I will also be doing again this year.

I can tell you that crewing is not exactly easy! Its two very very long days! I was on pit stop one last year so we had to be the first out, we left wayy before the first rider left. And I kept hoping over to the next pit stops and luch to help out at those stations too.

But at the end of the weekend when all of the walkers/riders cross the finish line and thank you for making the weekend possible it is soo worth it!

Don't forget to take your camera because there will be lots of memories you will want to capture. Being a crew member you get a chance to meet soo many of the walkers/riders and hear their stories. It is all just such a rewarding experiance.

Best of luck! I'll see you in September :)
