Hello / Support

Hello!!!

I hope I find each and everyone of you in the best health and spirits.
It has been a while since I last posted anything but I wanted to know that I've been thinking of you guys -- and this event.  It's already 2009 and the walk is only MONTHS away (haha).
I am trying to get my team together, and if that falls through, you can count on me joining Chad's team :)

Anyways, I have been going through a lot these past couple of months and this past weekend, my life flashed before my eyes.
I was driving from London to Guelph on the 401 and slipped on black ice :(  I lost control (of course) and spun out from the right lane, into the lane, into a transport truck.  My car hit the tail end of his truck - but it still damaged my car that it is probably a write off.  After hitting the truck, it spun me out again, into the guardrail.
LUCKILY, myself and my friend are okay.  It could have been soo much worse but it still doesn't make it easy.  I have to go to massage therapy for the muscle spasms I have in my back and so I am hoping that the pain is temporary and nothing more serious than a spasm.
Anyways, we're alive and doing well - compared to what could have been of this accident.

I came on here because this is the best support (besides my family) I could get.  I know this has nothing to do with Breast Cancer, but I find that I feel so much better when I talk about it - even if it makes me cry.

So I will knock on wood that everyone else is okay and are doing great with their 2009 fundraising.

I look forward to sharing ideas and thoughts about how to reach our fundraising goals !!

Wow Ashley!! Thats insane!!! Im so glad to hear that you are okay! Im sure that youre heart completely jumped up your throat and into your mouth.
I cant imagine how scary that was for you!!!!

I have to try to round up a team this year too. So far its just me. :) Every year Ive walked with different teammates, but I havent been able to get any of them to do it again. I dont know why, its such a great time! Im going to be sending out a pleading email to all my friends and family soon, to try to find at least one other person to join me.

Again, Im glad to hear that you came out of the accident okay, and hope that youre back doesnt cause you too much pain. Like you said, it could have been so much worse. And I hope the insurance company gives you enough for you to get another car.

Thanks Noreen.

I am seeing a massage therapist tomorrow morning but I hope he / she can tell me what to do .. but I can imagine Saturday being very painful from whatever she does to me tomorrow. :(
It could have been a lot worse, yes. But I cannot get over how much it has affect my life - they way I think about things.

Noreen, is your husband walking with you again?? That's a good team :P

Thanks Denise!

I went for a massage on Friday and have been nursing my back with a heating pad since - it's making a world of a difference.

Another massage tomorrow and probably Wednesday :)

Hope everyone had a great weekend :)

Hey Ashley,

How are you feeling????

No, my husband isn't walking with me again, which is too bad, cause we had a great time!
All last year he kept telling me he was just doing the one walk. When we finished and were cheering other people in, he said that he might think about walking again, but that was short lived. ha ha He was back to not wanting to walk again a few days after.

Hey Noreen,

Thanks for the concern. I am actually doing a lot better. I think the massages are really helping my cause - too bad I have to cut back on them haha.

I think I will randomly feel some pain in my back as the years progress - which is a shame - but I am lucky to be alive.

That's a shame your husband isn't walking with you. Maybe you can still convince him - haha

Keep me updated :P

Ashley,

Just read all the details as you had mentioned it on FB but not really elaborated.

Wow.....Glad you and your friend are ok.

Hey have you considered walking in other cities? Join Chad & I in Ottawa for the start of the year, then you can be on his team the Butterflies of Hope. Think about it, walk is June 5-7.

Take it easy, feel better and we will see you in the summer for certain for the last walk of the year.

Hey Ashley!!!

I am so happy to hear that you are OK. My walk wouldn't be the same if I knew you were not there!! I hope everything goes OK for you with your massage therapists and that you can get some relief with that. Just thank God that you are here with us today!!

I am having a hard time right now myself and I guess I take the same comfort as you with all of my message board friends. It was 4 years ago on Feb. 7 that I lost my mom to cancer, and now my sisters and I are making plans for my dad who has lung and liver cancer. This is his fourth time. We are currently trying to make arrangements for his palliative care as he is becoming to ill to be at home. It is my nature to keep all of this to myself, but I am having one of those days where I need to spill!! Unfortunately all this is happening while I am at work!! LOL

While this is totally taking my focus off the Walk, I know it will renew my resolve to make cancer history. I just keep thinking about the Weekend and how much I love it - I wish it was this weekend!!

Thanks for listening to my vent!! I love all of you guys!!

Cheryl,

Welcome back!!
Isn't this place wonderful - for support, discussion and a place to vent/express what is bothering us. It's a crazy place, but i am sooo happy i am involved in it.
Thank you for your kind words - It wouldn't be the same to NOT be able to walk in this event...It has really changed my life and I am grateful to be able to participate in it.
My teammate, bailed on me, so I am trying to get more friends of mine to join..and if that doesn't work, you know I'll meet so many message board friends along route, that it'll just be as much fun!!

Cheryl, you are so very strong, and like you, I keep everything inside too.
It doesn't do us much good - but make us stronger. I am sorry to hear about your father but with your sister by your side, and us here on the boards, please use these outlets.
If you need ANY help with fundraising, let me know and I'll try my best to help you out :)
Keep that smile on your face - you are a great person !!
