As a Toastmaster and as chair of the District 60 Fall Conference committee, I nominated the WEBC founder Audrey Loeb for our Communication and Leadership Award recipient.
The C&L Award goes to a non-Toastmaster who, through his/her participation in and contributions to the community, has demonstrated these skills in a significant way. Previous recipients of the award include Mary Thornton of Famous People Players, the Honorable James Bartleman (the first aboriginal Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, Pinball Clemens, Erin Davis of CHFI, Ken Shaw of CTV and many others.
It was a pleasure to nominate Audrey for her work in bringing the Weekend to End Breast Cancer to Canada and specifically Toronto and she was honoured at a luncheon at our Fall Conference this weekend past.
In her acceptance speech Audrey did an outstanding job of telling the history of how the event came about and some of the event statistics. And her presentation was very moving; there were a lot of teary eyes in the room. And I was so proud to have nominated her.
Please pass this news on to other walkers/participants. I think it's important that people know that this honour was bestowed on Audrey.
Hi Phyrne, what an awesome choice in nominating Audrey. she is quite an amazing woman. I walked in training walks with her the very first WEBC, and was mesmerized by passion. I'm sure she spoke beautifully at your luncheon. congratulations on your perfect nomination, I can't think of anyone more deserving. Randy
Hi Phyrne Please give us some information on Audrey Loeb. I have been involved for three years with the weekend now and don't recall hearing her name before. I have a feeling her story would be a very interesting one. Cheers Bev

It provides most of the info although it doesn't explain the struggles as I was aware of them and Audrey described them at the luncheon on Saturday.
